Academic Standards

Culford School received the highest grading possible in all areas of a recent educational quality inspection by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) for both Senior and Lower Schools, with a grading of excellent across the board.

The school was judged as excellent in both categories - pupil achievement and pupil awareness.

We encourage our pupils to question, challenge and ask why?

Boarding

Boarding is a great route to develop self-reliant, mature young people who have clear values and compassion and tolerance for others. Whether as boarders or day pupils, our community ensures that all pupils see school as not just a place of work, but as a society in which their leadership can make a difference.

The Houses are central to our community and offer a home environment for all, weather as a day pupil or a boarder.

Houses mix well and friendliness between the years is a natural part of life at Culford.

Sporting Provision

Culford is known for high levels of achievement, but the foundation of our sporting ethos is to provide every Culford pupil with an opportunity  to fulfil his or her sporting aspirations at whatever level. We believe exercise and activity is essential to all of our pupils.

Our academy sports in Golf, Hockey, Football and Tennis enable talented pupils to combine an excellent education with tailored, high-performance programmes.

Dynamic Teaching & Learning

Research shows that the biggest single influence on pupil achievement is our teachers. It is profoundly important, therefore, that staff are given the space and tools to reflect upon and develop their teaching practice. The growth mindset that is so important to develop in pupils, needs to be the attitude we adopt as staff.

Culford is committed to investing in our teachers, ensuring our academic offering constantly evolves and provides pupils access to the best teachers and leading classroom-based initiatives.

Opportunities

With over 50 different activities across our schools, pupils have the opportunity to gain experience and develop skills outside of their standard curriculum. The breadth of extra-curricular opportunities at at Culford range from practical and creative, adventurous to reflective, and the physically and mentally challenging.

Culford really does have something for everyone.

Future Success

Culford sees education as a transformational process that guides pupils toward academic success, gives them clear moral values and develops their leadership qualities in readiness for the adult world. No matter a pupil’s interest or passion, Culford School provides the foundation for them to flourish.

It is a simple proposition: young adults should leave Culford ready for life, a credit to us and a delight to you.

"Pupils demonstrate excellent attitudes to learning as a result of a supportive and caring environment"
