Careers

The Careers programme at Culford aims to help pupils make informed, sensible decisions about exam courses and possible career paths, and develop appropriate skills and work experience for higher education and employment.

Pupils in the Fifth Form have the opportunity to take a comprehensive careers questionnaire as well as have a one to one interview with careers advisers from Cambridge Occupational Analysts. In their PSHCE lessons they will learn how to write personal statements, put together their CV, interview skills and how to write letters of application. All are encouraged and supported in gaining work experience.

In the Sixth Form pupils are invited to attend regular Careers Lunches in the Library where they can meet representatives from a number of different professions which in the past have included law, journalism, engineering, medicine and physiotherapy. Pupils also have the opportunity to take a Higher Education Course Finder questionnaire before beginning the UCAS process which helps them to focus their research into suitable university courses.

The careers programme is fully supported by pastoral staff and benefits from the expertise of parents and Old Culfordians. Further information about the programme, and many useful articles, information and links can be found on our Careers website http://culfordcareers.wordpress.com
