Music

Our music scene is vibrant with a wealth of opportunities for all musicians.

Individual lessons are taught on all orchestral instruments together with piano, organ, singing, drum-kit, acoustic and electric guitar.

There are a wide range of musical ensembles, including; Orchestra, String Orchestra, Wind Band, Jazz Band, Choral Society, Senior Choir, Chamber Choir, Barbershop, Glee, Flute Ensemble, Clarinet Ensemble and String Quartet.

Concerts and Performance

More than 30 concerts and performances are presented throughout the year ranging from informal tea-time recitals to full scale concerts in the Hall and the annual Carol Service at St. Edmundsbury Cathedral.

Rock Society helps pupils put their own band together and with expert tuition, they are able to perform at the annual Rock Concert in the Hall. House Concerts and the House Singing Competition are hugely popular events and opportunities for everyone to get involved. The Fourth Form enjoys a day working with musicians from the music industry with recent guest artists including Polar Collective and Underline The Sky.

The annual Musical is another highlight of the year and recent productions include: We Will Rock You, Cabaret, Little Shop of Horrors and Les Misérables.

Studying Music at Culford 

We run courses for GCSE and A-level Music. For those interested in studying popular music and music production A-Level Music Technology is an increasingly popular choice.

Our facilities include: a recording studio, music technology Apple Mac suite running Logic and Sibelius software. Large practice rooms all have pianos and many with grand pianos.
