Two OCs receive New Year's Honours

Culford School Foundation are delighted to announce the inclusion of two Old Culfordians in the 2019 New Year’s Honours list. Jayne-Anne Gadhia CBE (1975-1979) was made a Dame for her contribution to Financial Services and Women in the Financial Industry, and Gary Newbon (1954-1964) was made an MBE for services to Media, Sport and charity.

Jayne-Anne Gadhia trained as a Charted Accountant and developed her career in Finance to become the CEO of Virgin Money in 2007. In 2015 Her Majesty’s Treasury asked Jayne-Anne to lead a review into the representation of women in UK financial services, this lead to the creation of the Women in Finance Charter. Jayne-Anne departed Virgin Money in 2018 and was appointed as an external member of the Financial Policy Committee at the Bank of England in January 2019.

Gary Newbon may be a regular face on your TV screen as a broadcaster for Sky Sports. Gary has been reporting on sports such as football (including seven World Cups), darts and greyhound racing for fifty years, spending thirty-six years with ITV and the last fourteen years with Sky.
