Our Philosophy

Our most recent ISI inspection (November 2008) found that many aspects of our pupils’ learning, their achievements and the teaching itself were outstanding. This has much to do with our academic ethos and our aim to provide an education that is challenging, enriching and fun.

We offer a learning experience which is personalised, individual and fully differentiated so that we challenge, stretch but also support pupils of all ability levels. We aim to ensure that pupils really enjoy their learning so that they develop a real passion and innate interest in their subjects. One of the ways we do this is to ensure that lessons involve a full range of active learning techniques so that pupils are involved and engaged at all times.

Marking and feedback are regular and rigorous, which is so essential for keeping pupils motivated and ambitious, and we make sure that pupils know exactly what standard they are at and exactly what they need to do to improve.

We focus on building pupils’ confidence in their own abilities so that they feel positive about their studies and have high expectations of themselves. As a result we have a proven track record of converting pupils’ potential and interests into excellent grades.
