Music

Culford provides a wealth of opportunities for musicians at all levels. You can have individual lessons for any orchestral instrument as well as piano, guitar and voice.
There are ensembles and choirs to suit all tastes in music: senior orchestra, string orchestra, wind band and jazz band and, for singers, a choral society, chamber choir and other groups. You will be encouraged to form your own band and have lots of opportunities to showcase your talents to the School.
Each year Rock Soc organise their own concert in the Centenary Hall with everything from Arcade Fire to Adele and original pieces being performed. House concerts offer further opportunities for informal and formal pieces to be played.
The Music Department also collaborates with the Drama department for the annual school musical in the Spring term each year.
Music is a popular subject choice at GCSE, AS and A2 Level. For people interested in music production there is a Music Technology course at AS level.
The first two phases of the new Music School development have created a superb intimate performance facility in the Billiard Room, in addition to newly refurbished classrooms with interactive whiteboards and modern teaching facilities and further sound-proofed practice rooms on the first floor of Culford Hall.
The third phase, scheduled for 2011/12, is to create a recording studio.
You can find more pictures from Culford's concerts and gigs in the Photo Galleries section of the website.
