16 Culford pupils (from Prep and Senior schools) qualified to take part in the final round of the Suffolk Schools cross-country trials, held at the Royal Hospital School near Ipswich on Thursday 19th January 2012.
This was a great achievement, having had to prove themselves over two previous rounds in order to compete this time.
Wet and muddy conditions underfoot, along with the cold wind, made for a challenging environment in which to run.
Results were as follows :
Minor Boys
10th – Jess Walters
22nd – Finn Taylor
41st – Tommy Freeman (but struggling with an ankle injury)
Minor Girls
1st – Nella Walters (to complete a clean sweep of winning each of her races)
7th – Olivia Allum (excellent run from her)
19th – Jevony Hall (improvement of over 20 places from her previous run)
41st – Kate Shillitoe
Claudia Spencer-Hall was taken ill on the course, and so did not finish on this occasion. However, she has finished in 2nd and 5th places on previous performances.
