Culford Sports and Tennis Centre hosted the Barclays Ball Kids regional trial on Sunday 22 January.
Over 70 youngsters were put through their paces with a range of skills such as agility, balance and co-ordination, hoping to make it through to be on the side-lines at the Barclays ATP World Tennis Tour Finals to be held at the O2 in London in November.
100 boys and girls, from 14 regional trials held around the UK, will go through to the last round where a final squad of 30 ball kids are selected.
Culford tennis scholar Edward Pomeroy (L3) took part in the first session and commented: “I have always wanted to be a ball boy. Watching it on TV it looks like good fun and a chance to meet the players.”
The youngsters are due to find out tomorrow (Tuesday) if they have won through to the next stage.
