Senior School Parent Handbook 2011-2012

Child Protection Policy

Culford has a statutory duty under the Children Act to safeguard and promote the welfare of all its pupils. As such, the Senior School Joint Deputy Heads are responsible for all child protection and welfare issues and have the right “to do what is reasonable in all the circumstances of the case for the purpose of safeguarding or promoting the child’s welfare”.

The Act gives Social Care authorities the duty to take whatever steps are necessary to determine whether each pupil’s welfare is being adequately safeguarded and promoted, and this can involve entry to inspect the school’s premises and records, and to see and interview pupils.

Child protection requirements must be known and observed by all adult staff on site, including temporary, supply and ancillary staff and volunteers working with children. Therefore all new members of staff are made fully aware of requirements via an induction programme and all staff are required to attend child protection training every three years.

Culford’s policy on child protection and welfare can be found in the Parent Handbook, or please click on the link below to download a copy.
