Weekend Activities

Whether your idea of weekend fun is racing around a go-kart track, wandering around the markets of London, punting on the beautiful River Cam or simply catching a movie, weekend life at Culford offers all of the above and more. While Saturday nights tend to be quite relaxed after a busy week and afternoon sport we still manage to enjoy a wide range of fun activities including: bowling and cinema trips; participating in an International Evening of food, music, dance and readings; theatre trips; and the Highland Ball at the end of the autumn term.
Our Sunday programme is designed in consultation with the Sixth Form and, quite simply, if they want to do it, and it is practical, it happens. While the majority of trips are optional, some are compulsory to allow year groups to bond and get to know each other well. This is true of the Sixth Form Grand Day out to London, early in the Autumn Term, when pupils visit Camden Market, shop in the West End, have a service at St Martin's in the Field and enjoy the culinary delights of China Town. Also in the autumn term is the popular trip for all years to Alton Towers (a high adrenaline theme park), an afternoon to enjoy the delights of the University town of Cambridge, the chance to go paintballing and a trip the Fashion Show at Birmingham’s NEC.
Afternoons at the cinema followed by a meal out and enjoying a stroll around the Christmas Fair in Bury St Edmunds complement a programme that is balanced, varied, pupil led and most importantly fun and a break from the more structured routines of weekday school life.
As well as putting on the annual Fashion Show and Rock Concert, the Sixth Form also take a leading role in organising Halloween and Valentine's day parties, as well as the House concerts which take place in the Spring and early Summer terms.
