Prep School Awarded Eco Schools Top Award
Rebecca Jobbins

Culford Prep School Eco Club have been working hard and have just received the top award of green flag status.

‚ÄčThe Prep School Eco Club run by Mrs Taylor has been working through the guidelines of the Government initiative for Eco Schools for the past 18 months. Achieving Bronze and Silver award status in early 2020. The top award of the green flag saw pupils ambitiously hoping to complete the guidelines and make a difference within the year. This they did in December and passed with a glowing report, as well as receiving sponsorship towards their efforts of £200 by an outside charity.

The group would like to thank Miss Hodgletts and Ms Black for their support in the application. It has been a whole school effort led by the pupils to achieve this. Including creating recycling labels for all the bins, being more aware of litter and water, turning off lights, and raising money for the various charities across the year. The Eco Club have worked hard to create newsletters, videos, a notice board and a google site, all activities have helped to raise the profile of helping the environment and becoming a green school.

The pupils intend to maintain green flag status by continuing the good work. If they can achieve all this in the year of 2020 Mrs Taylor has high hopes for the future. Including recruiting further eco warriors. Mrs Guntrip has already started working with the First Form on several exciting green projects.

Congratulations Eco Club!
