Tommy Freeman OC (2008-2016) has been selected to represent the England Rugby Team. He received his England call-up yesterday evening and is now a player on England's 34-man squad, who are all preparing for the upcoming Autumn Nations Series.

Selected by England coach Eddie Jones, Tommy's knowledge of the game and versatility secured him his spot on the team, Jones explains; ''He’s a big, strong, strapping lad. He can play full back or wing. I’ve been watching him for a couple of seasons. He’s got good pace, a good feel for the game.” Talking on his goals for the team, Jones continued “Our aim each week will be to get better and better as we work towards the Rugby World Cup in 2023.”

Head of Rugby, Mr. Bolton says, ''We are extremely proud of Tommy here at Culford. He has worked exceptionally hard to get to where he is and we are overjoyed by his success. The fact Tommy is such a nice boy makes his selection even better. We hope to see him get the opportunity to wear the famous England jersey; and when he does we will be watching - you will be able to hear us cheering him on from Culford!''

Prior to receiving the news, Tommy visited Culford during our Rugby and Hockey festivals last week. Between matches, he spoke to pupils about his career as Northampton Saints' Full-back, his rugby experiences at Culford and gave some fantastic advice to the boys.

We would like to wish Tommy a huge congratulations on his successes and best of luck on the England squad.
