After a year of coping with a serious knee injury, Henry's determination was rewarded when he was selected for the NAGS U16 England squad this month.

Becoming a member of the 41-man squad has been a dream of Henry's since a young age, ''I started playing hockey when I was 7 and from that day I knew I loved the sport. Ever since then, it has been my dream to play for England.''

At Culford, we incorporate our values into every aspect of learning, shaping our pupils to be flexible, innovative, resilient and dynamic. Henry has demonstrated resilience from start to finish within his sporting journey at Culford.

''Last year was a difficult year, I have had two knee operations and at one point I thought my hockey dream was over. However, through the support I have had from my family, Culford School and the hockey club I attend, I am nearly back to full fitness.

I can’t say how happy I am to have been selected for the NAGS U16 England squad and I don’t quite believe it has sunk in yet.  I am extremely excited for the experience and opportunity.''

Head of Culford Hockey, Miss Turbill says, ''This is a fantastic achievement for Henry, he has had a really tough year with a serious knee surgery so to get into the England squad after everything he has been through shows his mental strength and commitment to the sport.

Henry is on our Hockey Programme, he has three small group sessions a week alongside his Strength and Conditioning programme and physio. I am really proud of everything he has achieved, it is a goal we set together 3 years ago and for him to achieve it despite all of his set-backs is incredible.''

We would like to congratulate Henry on his sporting successes.
