Our children flourish in the Oak Room, with the perfect mix of childled exploration, learning opportunities led by our passionate practitioners and additional experiences, including French and PE sessions.
The Oak Room is for our older children. Play will continue to be the way in which children learn new skills and enhance the skills they have already acquired. There will be structured times throughout the day when the children can focus on specific areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage. The children will be encouraged to develop their language skills further through the implementation of Sound or Letter of the Week which will take part in a show and tell circle time. French will be introduced with Madam Catliff, Pre-Prep French teacher, along with physical education sessions with Mr Pepper, Head of Pre-Prep Sport. Experienced staff will encourage children with their self-care and independence skills through the positive 'can do attitudes’ when taking off and putting on shoes, wellington boots, getting changed, washing hands, selecting their food at lunch times and pouring their drinks. All these life skills will prepare them for their transition through to Pre-Reception.
Garden
Our spacious garden area is filled with pockets of play opportunities and adventurous challenges for the children to explore. Imaginations run free in the Wendy house, amazing sculptures can be created in the construction space, not to mention the endless opportunities to climb on the tyres, climbing frame and stepping stones. Bikes and trikes for all ages are available for the children to self-select and places to mark make are positioned around the garden for the children to chalk, paint, or use natural resources in wet sand and water. It is a space for children to enjoy the wonders of the seasons and discover play in the great outdoors. This is further enhanced with our Forest School sessions and walks around Culford Park.
