Learning Development
Culford is a mainstream school with a small, yet highly successful Learning Development Department serving the Pre-Prep, Prep and Senior Schools. We offer support to pupils with mild specific learning difficulties who are able to manage independently in the mainstream classroom. We do not have a separate dyslexia unit, nor do we provide in-class support.
Our aim is to meet every child’s individual needs. Tailor-made provision is built into a broad and balanced mainstream timetable.
Pupils are taught by qualified, experienced specialist staff either individually or in pairs. The department’s approach is multi-sensory and lessons are tailored to each child’s specific requirements. Learning development lessons are embedded in pupil’s timetables, offered on a withdrawal basis or arranged before or after school. Lessons incur an additional cost.
