The Creative Arts
At Culford, we believe that every child has creativity ready to be unlocked. Our inclusive approach ensures that every pupil finds confidence, whatever their ability. Artistic expression is a vital lens through which pupils understand the world and their place within it. By treating imagination as a core skill, we empower our pupils to find their unique voices.

Art
At Culford, we believe the expressive arts are essential to a full and vibrant life. We encourage pupils to be bold, imaginative, and passionate, using their creativity to explore and express their unique perspectives on the world.
Our Art Department has a studio culture where the doors are always open, music fuels the imagination and collaboration is celebrated. While we are incredibly proud of the stunning results our pupils achieve each year, our true priority is making sure every child feels empowered to discover their creative potential.
Trips
Experience outside the classroom is vital to any creative journey. Trips have been organised to galleries and exhibitions in Paris, Amsterdam, New York and London.
Award-Winning Artists
In recent years a pupil scooped the prestigious Saatchi Gallery/Deutsche Bank Art Prize for Schools for a wonderful A Level sculpture. A number of pupils leave us to further their studies at prestigious art colleges including Central St Martins, Chelsea School of Art, Falmouth and Leeds just to name a few.

Design Technology
Design and Technology at Culford is all about turning imaginative ideas into real-world solutions. Our pupils don’t just sketch; they build, combining resistant materials with mechanical and electrical systems to bring their concepts to life. Whether working in our dedicated design studio, systems room, or modern multi-material workshop, students have the best of both worlds. Traditional tools sit alongside high-tech equipment like 3D printers, laser cutters, and CAD software.
We are incredibly proud of our pupils, with many progressing to study design or engineering at top universities. As one of the first schools to join the Arkwright Scholarship Trust, we are very proud of the pupils that have successfully gained scholarships.
The Art Centre

Opened in September 2019, the Pringle Centre for Art and Design Technology is a fusion of heritage and contemporary design. Created through a bold extension of a 19th-century stable block, the centre earned the RIBA Suffolk Design Award for best educational building in 2020. At its heart lies a glass-fronted studio that serves as an inspiring workspace and a professional gallery for exhibitions.
Blending a minimalist, gallery-like feel with the unique character of the original brick and flint walls, the center serves as an inspiring hub for every child to unlock their creativity – from painting, life drawing and photography, to textiles, ceramics and 3D design.
