Culford School

We believe that music is essential to personal development, giving pupils the opportunity to stretch themselves and build confidence, discipline and teamwork through performance and collaboration.

Culford's vibrant music scene offers a wealth of opportunities for musicians of all levels to grow and showcase their talents. We offer individual lessons on a wide range of instruments, including orchestral instruments, piano, organ, singing, drum kit, acoustic and electric guitar.

With a dynamic music programme and a focus on nurturing talent, pupils are encouraged to reach their full potential.

Head of Music Reflects on Impressive Year

The year got off to a flying start with an impressive concert in the atmospheric surroundings of St Edmundsbury Cathedral, showcasing the talent of the many musicians at Culford.

Pupils from the Fourth Form to the Upper Sixth gave it their all in our first performance of the year, and there were standout moments from soprano Romilly Glover (F4) and pianist Isabella Edgley-Dixon (F4), not to mention a powerful solo rendition of Joby Talbot’s violin piece November: Eleven by Imogen Gotch (U6). The audience showed their appreciation for the string ensemble and jazz band.

From the first Senior Choir rehearsal in September, the chorus saw a significant increase in pupils and staff joining throughout the year. Their first public performance, I’ll Always Remember You This Way, was truly memorable during the final Collective Worship of the half term.
